Growing up, my family home had a daybed- in the loft at the top of the stairs. It was a great place to lay down and read, cuddle with a dog, or set down baskets of laundry, etc. These days, I am wanting a daybed of my own. I figure it would make a nice place to do homework or research AND we could finally properly put up an overnight guest. In fact, most daybeds come with the option of pop-up trundle beds. They are out of sight until you need them, then they convert your simple twin daybed into a mighty king size bed. We could even accommodate couples! How grown up is that?! Above is a picture of the style of frame I am thinking of.
