Building the Burrow

I had a terrible thought... with only one more Harry Potter movie left, and it following the last half of the book, there will be no more big-screen scenes of my favorite fictional family home, the Burrow! Oh, how I will miss it!

I take great comfort in the fact that I have my very own Burrow here at home with me. Sure, it is made of Legos, but it is fun and wonky and whimsical-- just like the *real* deal.

What makes my Lego Burrow even more special, is the memory I have of putting it together, piece by piece, with some of my favorite people. My brother and sister-in-law gifted me the set for Christmas, as soon as I unwrapped the gift, it went straight from the under the tree to on top of the kitchen table. The four of us laughed and bickered and played for hours as the Burrow came together, one bit at a time. We wore wooly things, and ate home-baked goodies, and the whole day was, well... magical!

Here's our set up... Let the magic begin!

Kitchen sink and Piggy both get homes

First floor done

Ta-Da!!!!!

Having a moment with Harry

Although Harry loved The Burrow like the home he never had, at times he couldn't help but be reminded of the tiny cupboard under the stairs ...

Ginny hates the "Bellatrix-burns-the burrow-scene" more than anything

Getting bored with normal play...

Everyone enjoying a cuppa

  2. How totally cool! I've never been into legos, but you make me want to rush out and get a set. I LOVE the Burrow as well. :-)

  3. That was such a fun and magical project. It would be great if there were someone creative enough to take all the photos and make a stop-motion capture of the entire process!

"Oh the Burrow is calling us home..."

  4. It was a ton of fun. I haven't ever really played with Legos, maybe just a little as a kid, but this was a blast! And putting it together was just the first part, as you can see, the play got a little silly once everything was in its place (which is the point, right?)

And yes, Matthew, that would be an awesome project- a stop-motion video of the Burrow piece by piece. Maybe you need to tell J since he won't listen to me!!!

PS- is it time for me to REPOST the Burrow song? It has been nearly a year...
